Arab Summits and Forums

The National Council for Women has already initiated dialogues with the different organizations and countries concerned with women issues to build bridges of cooperation among them. Therefore, the Council participates in all international conferences about women. At the regional level, the Council is also developing strong cooperation with Arab countries in order to create an influential women movement that would impact all Arab countries.

The First Arab Women Summit
and the Special Arab Women Summit the intellectual fora held in several Arab countries are an outcome of this major effort:

· The First Forum was held in Bahrain about Women and Law

· The Second Forum in Tunisia about Women and Politics

· The Third Forum was held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan     about Arab Women in Migration.

· The Fourth Forum was held in the United Arab Emirates about     Arab Women and the media.

· The Fifth Forum was held in Kuwait about Women and                 economics.

In 2002 the Council will follow-up the recommendations of the five Arab women symposia and will continue to build bridges between Egypt and the other Arab countries to share and strengthen their joint concern about the enhancement of Arab women, which is closely linked to the development of Arab societies as a whole.

The establishment of the Arab Women Organization whose Constitution is currently under discussion represents an important success for the march of Arab women.
