The Terms of Reference of the Committee are:
To prepare studies on the environmental issues
related to women.
To propose policies which aim at enhancing women's
role in conserving and preserving the environment.
To propose programs targeting women and society at
large with the aim of raising awareness of the important role that women
can play in this regard.
To examine and study issues referred to it by NCW
President.

Activities of the Committee:
The activities of the Environment Committee during 2007 included:
Participating with the Health,
Population and Media Committees in preparing a strategy for confronting
the threat of avian flu.
Reviewing and discussing the framework of a document
on Egypt's national strategy for achieving sustainable development for
women.
Reviewing and discussing the Annual Environment
Protection Report, issued by the Ministry of Environment, which focused
this year on air.
