Media Committee

 

 

The Terms of Reference of the Committee are:

  • To propose the media policies related to women and their various roles within the society.

  • To ensure that the media fosters a culture conducive to advancing women's roles and status within the family and society through promoting media material specifically prepared for this goal.

  • To follow up the material disseminated by the media with regard to women's roles and duties and voice its opinions on such material.

  • To examine and study issues referred to it by NCW President.

    Activities of the Committee:

    The activities of the Media Committee during 2007 included:

  • Organizing training sessions for the media staff of the Radio & T.V Union to sensitize them to the issue of women's political participation.

  • Organizing a training session for members of the Press Syndicate as part of the project for the political empowerment of women carried out by NCW.

  • Collaboration with NCW’s Ombudsman Office in a discussion panel on "Women's Recurrent Complaints and the Media".

  • Contributing to a paper on the cultural manifestations of discrimination against women and the policies and mechanisms to be adopted to confront them.
