As per the clauses of the Presidential Decree,
NCW is mandated to propose to the constitutional institutions policies aiming at enhancing the status of women and their participation in the sustainable development of society.
NCW is also mandated to monitor the implementation of laws pertaining to women, through the concerned government institutions. For this purpose, NCW has finalized its strategy for mainstreaming gender in the National Development Plan of Egypt 2002-2007 and will establish mechanisms for monitoring its implementation.
NCW has prepared the groundwork necessary for this task, through training of staff, creation of Equal Opportunity Units in several ministries, signing Protocols of Cooperation with ministries and other institutions.
During the coming period, NCW will focus on establishing mechanisms and systems for monitoring at all levels. |
