the National Council for Women participates in the Arab Regional Forum Ten Years after Beijing: a Call for Peace” from 8 to 10 July 2004 in Beirut Lebanon. Dr. Farkhonda Hassan, Secretary-General, and Dr. Haneya El Itriby, Coordinator of the NGOs Standing Committee will represent the Council.

Dr. Amal Osman, Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly and Member of NCW will also deliver a speech. Four seminars will be held during this period to discuss the role of women in civil society in all political, economic, and social life.: for Arab women parliamentarians, for women ministers and senior executives, for women thinkers and media people and for civil organizations. The regional forum is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA).
