H.E. Mrs. Mubarak inaugurates the Follow up of the implementation procedures for the Family Courts Seminar.

Under the auspices of H.E. Mrs Mubarak, The President of the National Council for Women, inaugurates the NCW new premises and the seminar of the follow up of the implementation procedures for the Family Courts, which has been conducted by the council to discuss all the family courts details and efforts done before starting in the coming October.


Dr. Farkhonda Hassan - The Secretary General stated that the seminar will cover all aspects of the newly established court. The Family Courts represent a major step forward for the Egyptian women, which in view of its importance; will be held under the auspices and in the presence of H.E. Mrs. Suzan Mubarak.

Dr. Farkhonda Hassan added that facilitating legal procedures for women in personal status cases was among the top priorities of the council, which concentrated its efforts on the issuance of the Family Court Law.

To that end, several meetings took place within the Standing Legislative Committee of the Council, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice that culminated in the draft Law. While reviewing the law, a number of issues required further study.

A task force comprising members from the Executive Committee and the Standing Legislative Committee prepared the final draft, which was thoroughly reviewed and discussed by a committee nominated by the minister of justice that included the Secretary General of the National Council for Women, a number of counseling to serve the interests of women. The Ministry of Justice accepted the suggestion of the Committee which are reflected in the final text of the draft law which was submitted to the two houses of the Parliament. The law was passed thus formatting the interests of women and alleviating the strenuous legal procedures which they had to endure.The Family Court has become a reality in President Mubarak era.

The seminar includes an opening statement by Mrs. Suzan Mubarak. Speeches by Dr. Ahmed Kamal Abdel Magd, coordinator of the Legal Standing Committee, H.E. The Minister of Justice Counselor Mohamed Au El Leil, and Dr. Amal Osman, Member of the Executive Standing Committee. These will be followed by an open discussion.
