As part of its mandate to monitor the implementation of all international
conventions on women, NCW established a unit to follow up on the
implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of
Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and prepare the National Report to be
submitted on a periodical basis (every 4 years) to the CEDAW Commission.
Thus, NCW collects information and statistics on the achievements of
ministries and other institutions concerned with women's issues. It has also
held experts' committees, meetings and workshops to identify the progress
achieved on each section of CEDAW. Egypt's combined fifth and sixth national
reports are currently being reviewed for submission it the CEDAW Committee
in New York soon.
