NCW, in cooperation with the
Ministry of Health and Population, established a program to develop the
Galaa Teaching Hospital. The objective was to create a model institution
offering high quality health services for women that broadens the concept
and dimensions of women's health care and that could be replicated in other
hospitals.
NCW also focuses on widespread
diseases among women to recommend that health care services be directed to
the treatment of these diseases. For this reason it encourages both
governmental and non-governmental efforts to disseminate to the public
information about the services available.

NCW also supports the role of NGOs, the
civil society and the media in raising awareness of the importance of the
early detection of women-specific ailments, such as breast cancer,
osteoporosis and providing care to elderly women. Additionally,
NCW has conducted a study that provides information and insights on the
harmful effects on women and children of the pollution emanating from lead
foundries in the area of Shobra El-Khaima.
A workshop to raise awareness of the preventive measures to be taken against
the avian flu was organized in the premises of NCW, where experts provided
the audience with advice on how to avoid and minimize the risks.
